Nigerians have come out in their numbers to support their artiste after Shatta Wale trashed Nigerian music and artiste. They called Shatta Wale a local champion intimidated by the success of Nigerians dominating the global music market.
Some comments coming from our Nigerian counterparts suggest that Shatta Wale is merely throwing a tantrum for his declining career. Also, the growing popularity of the Nigerian afrobeat on international markets shocks Shatta Wale.
“Shatta Wale is obsessed with Nigerian artists. That thing people become when they can’t beat you, they hate! You filled a stadium (don’t know the price of tickets or the stad capacity) but at least enjoy your moment. Find fulfilment. You are doing ok too. They are just way bigger!”
“If you were Shatta Wale, you’d be frustrated too. Anytime a Nigerian artist lands in Accra, the local champion, becomes self-aware: he is not the king of his own city. Ayra Starr landed & the dude has been ranting ever since. I heard Portable & Speedy are off to Ghana soon. Wahala.”
